i am attending an army officer military ball. what kind of formal dress (female) is appropriate?

I know full length, however what style, accessories? length of heel? material, oh and do you have to know ballroom dancing?

Attempt to be feminine, sedate, and classy. Medium heels and full length dress. The dress should be comfortable, not too flashy, and fit properly [not too tight].

Accesseries: clutch purse, minimum jewelry [gold or pearl] and everything should coordinate. A drape or shawl might be a plus.

You manners should be respectful and natural. Enjoy yourself and be a credit to your date/fella and yourself!
