My Favorite Fairy Tales
Did you love fairy stories when you were a kid? Hans Christian Andersen, the Brothers Grimm and Aesop wrote a lot of the great classics. You may have read them yourselves or perhaps your mum or dad read them to you as bedside stories. Of course, nowadays, you could have also watched these stories in the movies or on TV. It would be a pity if these great tales were forgotten. They have been a part of life for so long and teach a lot about morals and so on. If you had to pick your favorite fairy stories of all time what do you think they would be? Here are a few of mine.
Rapunzel. This was my favorite story as a child, probably because I always wanted to have very long hair. This is a tale by the Brothers Grimm about a young girl called Rapunzel who is kept prisoner in a tower by an enchantress. The only way in to the tower was if the enchantress asked Rapunzel to let down her long golden hair which she would then climb up. Of course, there was a handsome prince ready to rescue her. In order to stop Rapunzel escaping, the enchantress cut off her locks. Like every good fairy tale, it all ends happily.
The Goose That Laid The Golden Egg. This is a one of Aesop’s fables. It’s about a couple who owned a goose that laid golden eggs. I wish I had one of those! Stupidly, this couple aren’t content and, supposing the goose to be full of gold inside, killed it. They mistakenly thought they could collect all the gold at once! Of course, when they had cut the goose open, it was just like any other goose – no gold inside. This fable teaches a great moral – too much greed can destroy the very thing that it’s seeking.
Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears is about a girl with golden hair who goes into the three bears’ house. It’s a cautionary tale. Goldilocks enters the house of mummy, daddy and baby bear while they are out and makes herself at home. When the bears come home they find Goldilocks asleep in baby bear’s bed. Goldilocks awakes with a shock and runs away as quick as possible. She never returns! It’s a cautionary tale because it’s tells of every parent’s nightmare of their child wandering off, taking what doesn’t belong to them and the possibility that they might get hurt.
Take a look at my Goldilocks costume site for some very pretty costumes.

Winnie the Pooh (Three-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) $23.95 Author A.A. Milne’s beloved bear, Winnie the Pooh, joins forces with his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood to help two of their own in Disney’s hand-drawn charmer. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (Walt Disney’s Masterpiece) [VHS] $12.81 Disney’s 1977 The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh may be the last word on (animated) Pooh because it so faithfully honors the first word on Pooh, penned in the 1920s by British storyteller A.A. Milne. Gently paced, subtly humorous, and blessedly understated, this adaptation reflects Walt Disney’s original vision to develop the beloved British bear for a wider audience. The film is essentially a… |

Walt Disney’s Classic The Jungle Book (The Classics) [VHS] $6.74 Disney’s 1967 animated feature seems even more entertaining now than it did upon first release, with a hall-of-fame vocal performance by Phil Harris as Baloo, the genial bear friend of feral child Mowgli.
