Country Musician Immortalized At The Alan Jackson Star Ceremony

Alan Jackson, one of country music’s biggest stars, was honored with the Alan Jackson Star Ceremony earlier this year. Since releasing his first album in 1990, Jackson has put out thirteen full length albums, with his most recent, Freight Train, hitting stores on March 30th. This most recent honor is sure to secure his place in history as a country music icon.

Although having your name on the Walk Of Fame is a huge honor, it is not Alan Jackson’s first time being recognized for his success. Since the start of his career, he has received fourteen awards from The Academy Of Country Music and twelve from The Country Music Association. He received the 2002 Grammy for Best Country Song for his song “Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning),” an emotional 9/11 tribute.

Over the years, Alan Jackson has received many other awards and recognitions that are not honored with statues and stars. In addition to the many impressive awards he has won, he has sold 50-million albums and can boast thirty-four chart topping hits. He shows no signs of stopping at age fifty-one, with a brand new album and an upcoming tour.

Jackson is among a variety of music, television and film stars who have been honored with stars on the Walk Of Fame. Kenny Rogers, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton are just a few other country artists who have stars to their names. There are even a few fictional icons on The Walk, including Rin Tin Tin and Kermit The Frog.

It may seem as though everyone who has ever graced the stage or screen has their name on Hollywood Boulevard, but they are not actually easy to get. There must be a campaign made by the companies that work with the star being considered. To be eligible, a performer is required to have spent a minimum of five years in the business and to have given back through charity work. You may also recall the Alan Jackson Star Ceremony.

Although many people may be aware of what he does with his extra hours, Alan Jackson has done his share of giving back. He has supported both the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital and the Red Cross. In recent weeks, he played a show to raise money for the families affected by the Upper Big Branch mining disaster.

After the unveiling of his Hollywood Boulevard star, Alan Jackson treated some lucky fans to an intimate performance at a small Hollywood club called Hotel Café. He played a 21-song set to radio contest winners who flew in from all over the country for the occasion. Jackson rarely plays in such small venues and fans were thrilled to see him perform with his eight-piece band.

From his hit songs to his charity work, Alan Jackson has left a positive mark in every aspect of his career.
