Question about an old pair of Bauer figure skates?

I have a 20 year old pair of Bauer Woman’s figure Ice Skates. The boots are in great condition. I thought they were leather but the tongue of the boot says ‘all man made material’. Is it possible these aren’t leather? Also, the Chrome on the blade is worn off at the the very edge of the blade. If I get them sharpened will the rest of the chrome come off? And there is a little but of rust on top where it connects to the boot – do you know how I can get this off? Thanks!

They are not leather at all if it says MAN made. The blade will continue to flake off but if you need them sharpened you don’t have much choice. Sharpening will also take the rust off., but there is no real way to take the rust off the top where you decsribe. You can try steal wool…

If you can, spend a bit of money and get a new pair. They are pretty cheap if you want to get the same type. If you only skate a few times a year, it may not be worth it.
