Damascus steel vs. High-Carbon/Spring Steel?

I know each have their advantages and disadvantages, but I’d like to know the specific pros and cons for each material when it comes to having a Damascus or High-carbon/Spring steel one-handed sword or dagger. I know the prices for some of these custom made beauties can range in the thousands, which is why I would like to know which might fit my liking for a battle-ready, fully functional weapon =)

generally the damascus is harder to make for not that much performance improvement unless the price rage is fairly high most damascus made today is designed to look fancy instead of functional generally the easiest way to telll the diffference is if you can see the layers in the steel it would be best to avoid it personally I like 1060 steel but it may not be for every one

as with any steel it should be carefully tempered
