Is it legal to carry a Dirk or Dagger if not concealed in CA?

I want to carry a Dirk or Dagger around, (unconcealed and in a scabbard), I know how to use them and just want some extra defense, is this legal in CA?

I don’t want answers that don’t have anything to do with dirks or daggers, for example, “get a gun”, is not the answer I want, they’re much more expensive.

No state law prohibits carrying a fixed blade knife which is not concealed (although there are some regulations in specific places like government buildings and schools). If it is not concealed, it does not have to be in a sheath–the law just says that if it is in a sheath it is not concealed. However, there may be local (city or county) ordinances, which may, or may not, be enforceable.
