Stretch Marks?

Okay so i’ve gained weight lately and when i was a little bit skinner i never asked this question and i’ve wanted to ask it forever……when i weighed 112 pounds (and i’m 5’6) i had stretch marks on my love handles (which are kind of big) and the stretch marks arent the purple and red kind….there clear….and its werid and makes me feel fatter then i prob am….please…why are they there?!?! is it because i’m horribly fat….or is it some natrual thing everyone has….and please dont be to harsh…lol

No, it has nothing to do with being fat. It has to do with the type of skin you have. Skin is elastic, but to what degree depends on the person. I know you get sick seeing some movie star have triplets and come out of the delivery room in a size two. Even with proper skin care, there is no way to assure that your skin will stretch as needed. Clear stretch marks are places where your skin is almost torn (think about a run in your stockings) it is a tissue separation that is not uncommon, even in slim women. I have the same tissue separations in my upper legs. I had them when I was a size two and they are still there at a size 10. They haven’t gotten worse though. It is like outgrowing your skin. Unfortunately they have yet to find a “cure” to fix them. You can try heavy emmolient creams like cocoa and shea butters to keep your skin from stretching like that in the future, but again, all skin is different, what works well on one person, might not be so good on you. My doctor told me that mine came from being to hard on my body (cheerleading, soccer, softball) and that some of the movements I made repeatedly pulled at the skin and weakened it in some locations. You are not fat, it just happens sometimes. =D
