Hunting Fixed

Carrying a Large Hunting Knife in My Car in North Carolina?
I have a pretty good 12″ fixed blade knife I have for hunting and hiking.
What are the laws of it being in my car when I take it with me. I always have it sheath what are the laws?
It has to be completely in the open. I was in court one day for speeding, and I watch in utter amazement at this case in front of me.
This guy who worked as a landscaper bought a machete at the flea market. it was sold in a non original box. he put it in his back seat and drove home. he got pulled over for something minor and the cops found it. he got sentenced to 30 days for a concealed weapon.
