Knife Aus

Knife Aus
Can you bring back a Balisong/Butterfly knife from China into Aus?

Recently I have purchased a small butterfly knife outside a Chinese Supermarket (the name escapes me). It is rust-free with an unusually small body that has been fitted with a keychain, the blade itself being no larger than 5cm. Soon I will be travelling back to Aus and I have become concerned about the legal status of possessing one, is it possible to bring the knife back into my country?
If not, is there an alternate way? Sending via post? Or bringing it back piece by piece? Please note that I do not possess the knife with a malicious intent in mind, I simply find flicking it and doing tricks calming and entertaining.
Chris

Butterfly knives are restricted imports. They must be declared and will be confiscated if you don’t have an import permit. Don’t try sneaking it through in your luggage either assembled or disassembled and don’t bother posting it. Luggage and posted items are x-rayed and if/when it is detected and hasn’t been declared, you will not only lose it, but will receive a substantial fine.
