Question about knives in the kitchen?

I purchased some relatively expensive knives for our home kitchen. We never put them in the dish washer and use set of Lansky sharpeners every couple of months just to keep the sharp edge on the ones without teeth. They have been great and I have had them for just over a year.
The problem is that the larger ones have started to develop a bit of a rippled edge on them and I have no idea why. We always use a plastic type cutting board so that it is not hard enough to damage the knives but can still be washed well.
Any ideas why this would happen?

Do you mean rippled if you look at it from the side of the blade, or rippled if you look at it with the edge facing you? It makes a difference.

If they appear rippled when you look down the edge (facing you) it is because you need to get a knife steel. Proper use of a steel will keep your edges aligned and straight. It should be used before every use of the knife.
