Leather Folding
How can i fix my brand new leather wallet? It’s wet!?

Last night for my birthday I got a very nice Armani Exchange bi-fold leather wallet. I left it in my outer jacket pocket for safe keeping. When I got home from celebrating, I saw that my jacket kind of smelled bad so I left it out on the fire escape to air out. I did not know that it would pour last night. This morning, after seeing that my jacket was soaked and remembering that my wallet was in my pocket, I was sad to find that my brand new wallet was dripping wet. I soaked up the excess puddles with a paper towel and am currently leaving it out to dry. My internal debate is:
1.) whether or not I should wipe down the wallet, because it still seems pretty wet (especially inside the pockets), and
2.) whether I should leave it out to dry opened, closed, upright, lying down, and/or with its stretchy strap wrapped around it.

Also, I would like to know how to treat the wallet afterwards in case it is dry or brittle or starts to crack. Your help is MUCH appreciated.

Have the wallet open and upside down- make sure it keeps its form, if you stuff it it will dry in that shape. We usually but a cool fan on things we wish to dry NO HEAT! If it is a sealed leather there should be no staining and you can easily apply a leather conditioner when you wish- if it is an open pore leather it will hopefully dry evenly in tone but conditioning may have a chance of uneven darkening. You could possibly try putting some conditioner in a little condiment bowl inside a large zip lock baggie and putting the wallet in there and leaving in a sunny window covered with paper towels so the suns rays dont fade it.
Hope this helps
David

FYI – I fell in the swimming pool, much to everyones amusement and soaked everything- cell phone, beautiful natural leather billfold wallet etc etc- I did exactly as I said and it worked great- even the cell worked and that was chlorinated water!
