Schrade Walden
How old is this knife?
It is a small switchblade, about 3″ closed, with two blades, one about an inch and a half, the other about 2″. On one blade, it says “Schrade Cut Co. Walden, NY” and on the other it says “US Pats Dec.21.09 Sept.13.10″
I found this in my Grandmother’s house, and was just wondering how much it might be worth and hold old it is…The handle looks like it might be Ivory, and it has a lock for each of the blades…
Any ideas?
Here are some pictures of it:
Thanks!
Hi Mugs…I worked at Schrade! They were a 100 yr old company in 2001. They are out of business now. The knife you have is most likely from the “early” collaborative period of Schrade, when they were buying out Walden Knives (Walden, NY). It is what sounds like an early Uncle Henry. It is NOT a switchblade but rather a Lock Back knife. The value would be hard to determine without a look-see, but you could try E-bay for a shot at it.
