Cut my finger with a really sharp knife?

Today I was chopping things for a salad and I cut my finger with the knife. It’s a sideways slice through the meat at the tip of the finger, like the kind of cut that makes a ‘skin flap’ only way deeper. It wouldn’t stop bleeding for like half an hour, but it’s only half an inch long so that’s probably too small for stitches. I washed it and put on a bandaid, but is there anything else I can do? And how to keep it from getting infected?

Get some butterfly stitches, that’s what i did my finger healed up just fine….until i had to get it amputated because of the hideous infection. No but seriously butterfly stitches are the way to go.
