Sharpening Kit

I used a reel mower sharpening kit but it didn’t work. What did I do wrong?

I followed the instructons but the blades were still dull. I must have missed something and don’t quite grasp the concept of how this kit works.

A reel mower severs by shearing the grass between the blade and the cutting bar rather than cutting it with a knife edge as a rotary blade does.

Sharpening a reel mower is a real art. You have to get each blade perfectly flat and then have each blade adjusted so it just makes contact with the cutter bar.

A correctly sharpened blade should have a perfectly square profile when looked at in cross section and not be beveled or rounded.
