Skinner Knife

I have an original buffalo skinner knife that is at least 60 years old. How can I find out its value for?
Insurance purposes
Knives only become collectable when you can verify who make it, when it was made, and who the designer and builder are.
Your best bet – is to take a really close look at it – and then try to find something similar at an online auction – like EBay or Gunbroker.com I am sure there are other auction sites that deal only with knives – a little googling should find these.
As a last resort – you can put it up for auction on EBay or any other site with a $500 reserve. In your auction – put in as much info as you know about the knife, and, ask for anyone who recognizes what it is to please share the info with you. I know several people who have used this technique to ferret out info on all sorts of stuff.
As you scan the internet – keep a sharp eye out for knives that looks kinda like yours. Take some nice, in focus with good lighting, pictures – make them small enough to email. This way if you find someone who might know something – you can send the pictures off. You never know what you may learn!
Good Luck.
