Special Ops

what exactly is a special ops marine and what do they do?

my friend is going to training in three months—i looked everywhere to see what exactly special ops marines do. if anyone could help me out with this i would greatly appreciate it.

Most likely Marine RECON, and just because he told you doesn’t mean he’s not going. You’re allowed to tell someone that you’re going to join a special ops program, just not much once you’re in. What they do is basically go in and clear the area, secure locations, gather intelligence and kick a$$ so that the normal infantry can come in and do whatever it is they need to do. As for the “whatever he is told he’s a Marine”, the military prides themselves on making clear, concise and quick decisions with out need for orders. Orders are just the objective, the thought that goes into it is from training and intelligence. The only thing that would make me think he wasn’t actually going into Marine RECON is he called it SpecOps not RECON.
