Custom Bowie Knife Maker’s Mark?

I bought a really nice knife from a friend and wanted to see if anyone knows who made it. It has a stamp on it’s blade that says “X DB X”. The B is slightly below and engraved over the middle of the D. It also has a custom sheath made out of what looks like saddle leather. The sheath is also marked with a DB with an oval around it. Thanks for any help. The knife is an 8 inch bowie with a stag handle. It was supposedly given to the particpants of some kind of mountain man challenge.
