What is a unique weapon for my fantasy villain to use?

I am writing a fantasy story involving a dark sorcerer/king. He’s sort of a Sauron rip-off. However, I don’t know of what kind of weapon to give him to fight his enemies. The hero uses a spear and there is another king who uses a war-hammer, so I don’t want to use either of those. A realy big sword just seems so overdone.
I thought about giving him two long, thin, curved swords. He would simply march through the battle field slashing enemies two at a time. I had planned for him to fight the war-hammer bearing king, bring him to his knees, cross the blades and then slash them apart, scissoring his head off. A friend of mine didn’t like it though.
I thought about giving him a staff or scepter that could have a blade attached or transform into another weapon, but what? I don’t want a stave, mace, club, flail, lance, scythe?
What should I do? Stick with the dual swords? Or is there something I haven’t thought of? Please help?

You could do the duel swords thing, that sounds interesting. However, you might also want to consider a flail, which he spins around and strikes countless enemies to use at the same time.
I like the idea of the king losing, then the hero manages to lash out with the spear right?
