Sword Blade

Has their been an anime or manga that uses a sword that launches the blade?

I have come up with a character for a comic I’m writing and he uses a tanto that enters a daito sheath, and is able to fire the blade of the tanto, put it back into the sheath to reload, the sheath obviously carries three blades. I’m wondering if anyone knows of a similar weapon in any type of fiction, specifically around anime or manga.

I think Ga-Rei Zero has a sword similar to this. The blade is launched, but it’s attached and retrievable with a cord.
