What is the best way to design a table top display for an exhibit?

I am designing a table top display for a conference and need to know if anyone has any advice on how to make it stand out from the rest?

Use your basic visual concepts of groups of 3 or 5, use symmetry, something that draws attention, depending on the type of exhibit..fresh flowers, balloons, lighting. use covered boxes or something to create different levels, so everything isn’t flat on the table.
