what can I put on a cigarette burn to a table top?

my daughter let her cigarette burn my dining table top. Is there a chemical or treatment to fade or make it lighten?

Sand off the burn mark with some fine sand paper, steelwool, or even a nail-file. Wet the sanded area, which will allow the wood fibers to expand. (This levels the sanded area) If it raises the grain to much, re-sand a little. Then spray with some spray-can clear laquer. If you sand through the stain, to lighter wood, you might want to stain it to match first.
