If you need to keep your hands free for clearing the trail, you may not want to deal with water bottles. You may prefer a hydration system. These systems can either be built into the pack or many packs have special compartments where a water bladder can be located with a hole for the drinking tube. This can be very helpful for staying hydrated during your hike. However, it is also important to know that the tube and water bladder may freeze if the temperatures are extremely cold.

No matter which features you like best about the different outdoor backpacks, you should realize that the most important one is the way it fits your body. Having all of the bells and whistles won’t matter much if the pack is uncomfortable because you won’t use it more than a couple of times. Always try on a backpack before you buy it and make sure that it fits you snugly and properly.
