Tini Blade

What are the advantages of a black TiNi finish on a knife?
Other than the obvious coolness factor of having a black blade, are there any actual practical advantages to it? Thanks
As Karle said, a coating will help prevent rust, though the sharp edge will not be protected and, through hard use, the coating will eventually get worn off in spots, so it is not a substitute for proper care.
A mat finish will cut down on reflections, which might be a consideration in military, law enforcement, and zombie-avoidance applications.
