what the best way to sharpen a rusty hatchet?

i found this really old and rusty throwing hatchet. the edge of the blade is really thick from rust. its a vintage throwing hatchet. extremely hard to find. i don’t want to throw it away. so I’ve tried to use nail files to remove the rust and so the color is back but i want the blade sharp. any suggestions??

use a wire brush to get the rust off, the kind that you can mount in an electric drill works great!
an electric grinder works good for sharpening, the fine grinding wheel should do a nice job.
